Melissa Thompson from Salford, Greater Manchester, is now the fastest texter in the world. The 28 years old Brit wrote “the razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human”, in nothing less than 25.94 seconds. Beating the current holder, Franklin Page, 24, by a huge 9.6 seconds — back in March, Franklin managed to write the same text in 35.54 seconds — is considered a great improvement. Mainly because Melissa didn’t prepare especially for that attempt. Ms Thomson and her boyfriend Chris Davies, 23, were out, shopping, when they visited a Samsung store. Company officials invited her to have a go at breaking the world record. They gave her a Samsung Galaxy S, which as you know, features a “SWYPE” key pad (or call it a next-gen virtual keyboard) that enables users to input text without their fingertip leaving the screen, and the rest is now history.
