Already reeling from repeated cyber attacks by sophisticated Chinese cyber criminals, sensitive Indian departments could be up against a blitz of Pakistani hackers. According to Times of India, the Indian government has cautioned defense services, financial institutions, Internet service providers and private-sector businesses of possible cyber attack by Pakistani hacker groups. Intelligence agencies recently issued a warning against large-scale cyber attacks by Pakistani hacker groups from March 31 to April 6, 2010, targeting websites of Indian organizations. During the specified period, 330 websites were defaced. However, only four websites were of government organizations, said Sachin Pilot, Indian minister of state for communications and IT. “The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, which detects cyber security threats, has already issued an advisory circulated to all chief information security officers in the government and prominent private-sector organizations,” Pilot last week told the Indian Parliament.
