When businesses use cloud computing and install system databases in their respective virtual environments, they are putting their enterprises at risk of revealing very sensitive information to a wide range of internal and external attacks. Cloud computing can be outsourced and this nature allows for possible loss of control of critical information. These sensitive data needs to be monitored well to guarantee that they are always safeguarded. One enterprise existing in a cloud computing environment is the Payment Card Industry (PCI). The PCI Data Security Standard is a frequently used system to protect critical information. Introduced by Visa and MasterCard, this standard is now used by major card brands. This standard is now applicable to every business that store, process, or send data of cardholders. Evaluation audits or payment assessors using network scans assess the requirements yearly (Sussman 2008, 50).
