A mother desperate to get her child into one of London's top primary schools posed as another parent in a bid to get that child's application deleted. The woman assumed the identity of the rival parent, whose daughter was ahead of her own in the queue for Coleridge primary school in Crouch End, by signing up to a Googlemail address in her name. She then wrote to Haringey's education bosses, quoting the name and date of birth of her rival's daughter and telling officials to remove the child from the list. Haringey council deleted the child's name, apparently without asking questions, and the con was only discovered by the victim when she called to check her application's progress.
