It depends on ur purpose. According to my experiences, serie60 is the one which I most get fimiliar.

Do you know any 'stable' SDK download place? The SDK I was downloading can't get resumed (a bit f*cked on my dial-up modem).

Don't mind, the problem has been solved. The cookie's flaw (should set the download manager directly accepts it). ;-)

Yes, except some classes and functions (you can chk from SDK that which classes or functions support. Symbian have not only backward-compatibility but also forward-compatibility. Both of them do not need to be re-compiled.

Btw, emulator != phone
