[HIB]Is Korea Telecoms overselling cloud computing?

"Cloud’’ is obviously the most overused and overhyped term in technology these days, due to the heavy touting by a slew of vendors desperate to cash in on the new rental-computing movement. However, looming uncertainties over privacy, security and reliability have critics claiming that cloud services are being oversold. Telecommunications giant KT is the latest Korean technology company to take the plunge into cloud washing, promising that its cloud computing products ? the first of them appearing later this month ? will allow companies to shed up to 90 percent of their information technology (IT) costs. Ambiguous as it sounds, the concept of cloud computing is rather simple, referring to the set of technologies and equipment that allows the Internet to be used as a platform for collecting, storing and processing data. Cloud providers, which also include KT’s hated industry rival SK Telecom, are looking to convince businesses to give up managing their own computer networks and rent their capacity instead.
