Months after the iPad hype wave peaked it looks like competing manufacturers are finally ready to lift the lid on their products. This week marks the start of the IFA consumer electronics show in Germany, and it is shaping up to be ground zero for the next generation of Android-powered iPad competitors. There has already been a flood of leaks about Samsung's Galaxy Tab, which is set to be officially unveiled on the 2nd of September. But in recent days we have seen a presentation slide showing off LG's Optimus Tablet, which made a famously hyperbolic debut a few weeks ago when LG's marketing VP told the Wall Street Journal that it would be better than the iPad.The hot rumour is that Toshiba will also unveil its SmartPad, which will be our first look at the tablet since the prototype was shown off to us at Toshiba's Sydney Anniversary event a few months ago. Also on display will be tablets from a host of smaller companies. Viewsonic is set to show off the 7in Android 2.2 ViewPad that it announced a few days ago as well as the 10in version of the tablet. Archos is also going to be showing off several tablets in different form factors.
