Techdirt reader Mark Harris (a technologist and actor in New Zealand) alerts us to the submission he made to the government concerning the proposed new copyright law that would effectively create a three strikes rule in that country. His main concern is the same one that has been raised around here plenty of times: where is the actual evidence that this bill is needed or that it will "help"? As always the evidence is lacking. He notes over and over again that no actual evidence is presented to back up this bill. There are claims from industry representatives, based on nothing, but no actual evidence. He concludes by pointing out that the real issue isn't file sharing, but the industry's unwillingness to change.
